6 Days Safari
Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, and Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and you’ll head to Tarangire National Park (about a 2-3 hour drive). Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees that create a unique landscape. Morning is the best time to spot active wildlife. You can expect to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and various bird species. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot with views of the park’s wildlife. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, focusing on the animals gathering around the Tarangire River for water. In the late afternoon, you’ll drive to your accommodation in the Mto wa Mbu or Karatu area, where you’ll have dinner and rest in a lodge or camp.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater safari
After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater (about a 45-minute drive from Karatu). The crater is one of the best places to observe wildlife in Tanzania. You will descend into the crater to start your game drive. Ngorongoro is home to a large concentration of animals, including the "Big Five" (lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards). You’ll also spot zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and flamingos around the soda lake. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, where you can relax and watch the animals. In the afternoon, head to central Serengeti, known for its wide-open savannas and abundant wildlife. You will reach your lodge or camp in the Seronera area, have dinner, and relax after a day full of adventure.
Day 3: Full-Day Safari in central Serengeti
After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day safari in central Serengeti, particularly in the Seronera Valley, which is famous for its high concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Explore the area and watch the wildlife in its natural habitat. You will also look for the Great Migration, if you are visiting during the migration season. Stop for a picnic lunch in the park, enjoying the breathtaking views. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, with opportunities to see large herds of wildebeest and zebras, as well as predators stalking their prey. You might also encounter buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles in the rivers. Return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4: Journey to Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
After breakfast, you’ll leave the central Serengeti and head toward the northern part of the park, Kogatende, which is famous for the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration. The journey will take you through diverse landscapes, offering plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing along the way. Upon arrival in the Kogatende area, enjoy a short game drive before checking into your lodge or camp. Northern Serengeti is known for its stunning scenery and abundance of wildlife, particularly during the migration season. After a long day of travel and wildlife sightings, have dinner and relax at your lodge or camp.
Day 5: Full-Day safari in Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
Spend the entire day exploring Northern Serengeti. This region is the best place to witness the dramatic river crossings of wildebeest and zebras as they cross the Mara River, often pursued by crocodiles and predators. Your guide will take you to the best spots for viewing the migration and other wildlife. In addition to the migration, you can expect to see elephants, giraffes, lions, and perhaps even leopards. A picnic lunch will be provided in the park. In the late afternoon, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Final game Drive and return to Arusha
On your final morning, you’ll enjoy one last game drive in the northern Serengeti before departing. This is your chance to catch any wildlife you may have missed over the previous days. After the morning safari, you will start your journey back to Arusha. Depending on your travel preference, you can either take a scenic drive back or a short flight from Kogatende Airstrip to Arusha. You'll arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your unforgettable 6 day safari.
