4 Days Safari
Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and you’ll head to Tarangire National Park (about a 2-3 hour drive). Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees that create a unique landscape.
Morning is the best time to spot active wildlife. You can expect to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and various bird species. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot with views of the park’s wildlife. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, focusing on the animals gathering around the Tarangire River for water.
In the late afternoon, you’ll drive to your accommodation in the Mto wa Mbu or Karatu area, where you’ll have dinner and rest in a lodge or camp.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater safari
After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater (about a 45minute drive from Karatu). The crater is considered one of the best places for wildlife viewing in Tanzania. Descend into the crater, home to a large concentration of animals, including the "Big Five" (lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards). You can also see zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and flamingos around the soda lake.
Enjoy a picnic lunch by a hippo pool, where you can watch the animals move and cool off in the water. After lunch, continue your safari to central Serengeti. The Serengeti landscape is famous for its open savannas, where you can see large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, as well as predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
Arrive at your lodge or camp in central Serengeti (Seronera area) for dinner and relaxation after a day full of adventure.
Day 3: Full-Day Safari in central Serengeti
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a full-day safari in the central Serengeti, particularly in the Seronera Valley, which is known for its high concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Explore the area, observing wildlife in their natural habitat. You may spot jackals, hyenas, and many other animal species. Continue your search for the Great Migration if it is in season.
Have a picnic lunch in the park, where you can enjoy the scenery and watch the wildlife. In the afternoon, continue your safari, with a high chance of spotting large herds of wildebeest and zebras, as well as predators tracking their prey. You will also have the opportunity to see buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles in the rivers.
Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and rest after a busy day.
Hot Air Balloon:
For a unique experience, you can book a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, offering breathtaking views of the migrating animals and the landscape. This is ideally done on this day.
Day 4: Final safari and return to Arusha
Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti. The early hours are the best time to spot animals heading to water sources and remaining active in the cooler weather.
Afterward, you will depart the Serengeti and return to Arusha. The journey takes you back through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you can have a final opportunity to see wildlife or visit a traditional Maasai village to experience their culture and traditions. Arrive in Arusha in the evening.
