3 Days in Serengeti

Day 1: Arrival in Serengeti

Early in the morning, after breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha. The drive takes approximately 6-7 hours. A  fter about 3 hours, you will reach the Ngorongoro Conservation Area boundary, where you might spot some wildlife and enjoy stunning views of the highlands and Ngorongoro Crater. Alternatively, you can choose to fly from Arusha Airport to Seronera Airstrip within the park, significantly reducing travel time.

Upon arrival in Serengeti, your first game drive will begin. The landscape is famous for its open savannah and is ideal for viewing large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, as well as predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the Naabi Hill area, where you can also take a short walk up a small hill to enjoy panoramic views of the Serengeti plains.

After lunch, you will continue your game drive across the vast Serengeti plains. In the afternoon, it’s common to see animals moving towards water sources, and predators often appear as they follow their prey.

At the end of the day, you will arrive at your lodge or camp. Depending on your accommodation choice, you can stay at a comfortable lodge or a luxury tented camp, both of which often offer stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. After a day full of adventures, you will enjoy dinner and have time to relax.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in central Serengeti

The early morning is the best time to spot wildlife, as animals are most active in the cooler conditions. After a quick breakfast, you will head out on another game drive, this time focusing on the Seronera Valley, which is known for its high concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. You may also encounter jackals, hyenas, and a variety of bird species.

After your morning game drive, you will stop for a picnic lunch at one of the designated picnic sites. This break allows you to enjoy the beautiful views of the Serengeti wilderness and prepare for the afternoon.

In the afternoon, you will continue your game drive, focusing on finding the Great Migration if you are lucky enough to be there during the migration season, when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Serengeti plains. This migration attracts large predators hunting the moving herds. Besides the migration, you can also expect to see buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles in the rivers.

After your afternoon game drive, you will return to your lodge or camp, where you can relax and enjoy dinner. If you’re lucky, you might hear the sounds of the night-time wilderness, adding to the authentic Serengeti experience.

Hot Air Balloon:

For a unique experience, you can book a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, offering breathtaking views of the migrating animals and the landscape. This is ideally done on this day.

Day 3: Final game drive

On your final morning, you will embark on one last game drive. This is a great opportunity to catch a final glimpse of the animals you may have missed during the previous days. The morning safari will focus on areas where predators are often found, especially lions that roam the park in search of prey.

Before leaving the Serengeti, you may visit a traditional Maasai village, where you will have the chance to learn about the local culture, witness traditional dances, and explore the lifestyle of this pastoralist tribe. Meeting the Maasai people is a fascinating cultural experience and a perfect way to end your journey.

Later in the afternoon or evening, you will arrive back in Arusha, marking the end of your Serengeti adventure.
